Chocolate
Caramel Squares
Ingredients..
BASE
- 4 oz Plain Flour, 2
oz Caster Sugar, 4 oz Butter or Marg
FILLING -
4oz Marg, 1 small tin of condensed milk, 2
table spoons of golden syrup, 4 oz caster sugar
TOPPING -
4-6
oz plain cooking chocolate
Making
the base..
- Cream
the butter and sugar and work in the flour
- Press
the mixture into a greased Swiss roll tin and bake at 350 – 375 Deg for 20
– 25 Minutes (gas 4-5).
- When
cooked the base should be the colour of shortbread
Making
the filling..
- Melt
together marg, syrup and condensed milk in a pan.
- Boil
for five minutes stirring all the time
- Beat
well for 2 – 3 minutes, then allow to cool slightly before poring over the
base
- Cover
with melted chocolate and cut into squares when cool
Approx time to make - 15
minutes "Quick easy and very
tasty!"
Chocolate
Orange Bars
Ingredients..
8
oz Marg, 4 oz Sugar, 8
ox Self Rasing flour, 6 oz Oats, 4 Tablespoons of Cocoa
Making
the base..
- Mix
all the dry ingredients together
- Melt
the marg over a low heat and add the mixed ingredients
- Spread
over a Swiss roll tin
- Cook
at 180 deg (gas 4) for 25 – 30 minutes
Making
the topping..
- Mix
together 8 oz icing sugar, 3-4 teaspoons of Cocoa and orange juice to form a
thick paste
- Spread
on to the bars and cut into slices
approx time to make - 15
minutes
Chocolate
Slice
Ingredients
4
oZ Marg, 1 Tablespoon of Golden Syrup, 2 Table spoons of cocoa,
1 Tablespoon of sugar, ½ Ib Crushed digestive biscuit, Milk
Chocolate to cover
Preparation
- Melt
marg and then add sugar, syrup and cocoa
- Remove
from heat and stir in crushed biscuits
- Press
into greased tin and leave until cold
- Melt
chocolate and cover cake then slice when set
Approx time to make - 10
minutes
Continental
Chocolate Slice
Ingredients
4
oZ Marg (plus additional 2oZ for topping), 4 oZ Sugar, 3 desert
Spoons of Cocoa, 1 egg,
Vanilla Essence, ½ Ib crushed plain biscuits, 3 oz coconut,
10 oz Icing Sugar, 2 desert spoons of custard, Chocolate
Making
the base..
- Melt
Marg, Sugar and Cocoa together
- Add
one beaten egg and one teaspoon of vanilla essence, cook stirring
continuously for 1 minute
- Remove
from heat and add biscuits and coconut, Mix well
- Put
into greased dish and leave to set in the fridge
Making
the topping..
- Cream
2oZ of Marg, then add alternately, 10oz of icing sugar mixed with desert
spoons of custard powder with 4 desert spoons of hot water.
- Spread
and replace in the fridge
- Melt
cooking chocolate and poor over the cake
- Put
back int0o the fridge to set, then cut into squares whilst it is still soft!
Approx time to make - 15
minutes
Lemon
& Coconut Fruit Cake
Ingredients
4
oz Marg, 1 Desert spoon of syrup, 2 oz sugar, 5 oz Coconut,
5 oz Self-Raising Flour, 4 oz Mixed Fruit
Preparation
-
Melt Marg and Syrup in a pan
slowly
-
Add the other ingredients
-
When all mixed together, press
into a swiss roll tin and bake in a slow oven (150 deg) for 30 minutes
-
While still warm, pour over the
lemon icing made from 4 oz sifted icing sugar, lemon juice and rind of 1
lemon
