Chocolate Caramel Squares

Ingredients..

BASE -  4 oz Plain Flour,  2 oz Caster Sugar,  4 oz Butter or Marg

FILLING -  4oz Marg,  1 small tin of condensed milk,  2 table spoons of golden syrup,  4 oz caster sugar

TOPPING -  4-6 oz plain cooking chocolate

 

Making the base.. 

  1. Cream the butter and sugar and work in the flour
  2. Press the mixture into a greased Swiss roll tin and bake at 350 – 375 Deg for 20 – 25 Minutes (gas 4-5).
  3. When cooked the base should be the colour of shortbread

Making the filling..

  1. Melt together marg, syrup and condensed milk in a pan. 
  2. Boil for five minutes stirring all the time
  3. Beat well for 2 – 3 minutes, then allow to cool slightly before poring over the base
  4. Cover with melted chocolate and cut into squares when cool

 Approx time to make - 15 minutes       "Quick easy and very tasty!"


Chocolate Orange Bars

Ingredients..

8 oz Marg,  4 oz  Sugar,  8 ox Self Rasing flour,  6 oz Oats,  4 Tablespoons of Cocoa

Making the base.. 

  1. Mix all the dry ingredients together
  2. Melt the marg over a low heat and add the mixed ingredients
  3. Spread over a Swiss roll tin
  4. Cook at 180 deg (gas 4) for 25 – 30 minutes

Making the topping..

  1. Mix together 8 oz icing sugar, 3-4 teaspoons of Cocoa and orange juice to form a thick paste
  2. Spread on to the bars and cut into slices

 approx time to make - 15 minutes  


Chocolate Slice

Ingredients

4 oZ Marg,  1 Tablespoon of Golden Syrup,  2 Table spoons of cocoa,  1 Tablespoon of sugar,  ½ Ib Crushed digestive biscuit,  Milk Chocolate to cover

Preparation 

  1. Melt marg and then add sugar, syrup and cocoa
  2. Remove from heat and stir in crushed biscuits
  3. Press into greased tin and leave until cold
  4. Melt chocolate and cover cake then slice when set

 Approx time to make - 10 minutes


Continental Chocolate Slice

Ingredients

4 oZ Marg (plus additional 2oZ for topping),  4 oZ Sugar,  3 desert Spoons  of Cocoa,  1 egg,  Vanilla Essence,  ½ Ib crushed plain biscuits,  3 oz coconut,  10 oz Icing Sugar,  2 desert spoons of custard,  Chocolate

Making the base.. 

  1. Melt Marg, Sugar and Cocoa together
  2. Add one beaten egg and one teaspoon of vanilla essence, cook stirring continuously for 1 minute
  3. Remove from heat and add biscuits and coconut, Mix well
  4. Put into greased dish and leave to set in the fridge

Making the topping..

  1. Cream 2oZ of Marg, then add alternately, 10oz of icing sugar mixed with desert spoons of custard powder with 4 desert spoons of hot water.
  2. Spread and replace in the fridge
  3. Melt cooking chocolate and poor over the cake
  4. Put back int0o the fridge to set, then cut into squares whilst it is still soft!

 Approx time to make - 15 minutes 


Lemon & Coconut Fruit Cake

Ingredients

 4 oz Marg,  1 Desert spoon of syrup,  2 oz sugar,  5 oz Coconut,  5 oz Self-Raising Flour,  4 oz Mixed Fruit

Preparation 

  1. Melt Marg and Syrup in a pan slowly

  2. Add the other ingredients

  3. When all mixed together, press into a swiss roll tin and bake in a slow oven (150 deg) for 30 minutes

  4. While still warm, pour over the lemon icing made from 4 oz sifted icing sugar, lemon juice and rind of 1 lemon

  Approx time to make - 15 minutes
